I think the negative was underexposed a bit, and the development was a little lacking. The haze at the bottom came from the blanket being used to support the camera. Given that this is 100 or 125 ISO film indoors, the exposure was probably on the order of 1/15 or so at f/2.8.
Clearly the photographer is in need of more variety of cameras AND lenses...
