Nikkor 100mm f/2.8 Series E

Nikkor 100mm f/2.8 Series E (black grab ring '79-'81, silver '81-'85)
This sample circa '83.

Filter size: 52mm
Close focus distance: 3.3 feet or 1 meter
Aperture range: f/2.8 - f/22
Aperture blades: 7
Depth of field scale for f/11 and f/22, plus IR focusing index.
Design: 4 elements in 4 groups

A remarkably tiny telephoto. It it even smaller than the 85mm f/2! On paper it sounds remarkably similar to the 105mm f/2.5, but I think that there is a discernible difference in the photographs (perhaps it is observer bias though). In any case it is a cute, inexpensive, and good little lens.
