Comments:

I like this lens a lot, but I find it pretty grotesque at f/2, and stopped down at infinity the 24mm f/2.8 makes more sense since it is cheaper.  However, if you shoot up close at f/2.8-f/5.6 I really like the results!

The AI-S version has a much shorter focusing throw, like 60 degrees, compared with 160 degrees for the AI version (the 24mm f/2.8 has this dichotomy as well).  I knew from experience with the 24mm f/2.8 AI-S that the short focus throw does that work well with my style of shooting, so I sought out the 24mm f/2 AI.
