Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 AI-S

Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 AI-S (AI '77-'81, AI-S from '81-present)

Filter size: 52mm
Close focus distance: 1 foot or 0.3 meters (marked)
Aperture range: f/2.8 - f/22
Aperture blades: 7
Depth of field scale for f/5.6, 8, 16, 22 plus IR focusing index.
Design: 9 elements in 9 groups

Comments:
Very fast focus ring, about a quarter turn, which is probably fine because of the depth of field, but makes it hard to focus very precisely.  This is probably good for grab-shots but not really for my style of shooting.  The AI version has a much longer focus throw.

Nigh-indistinguishable from the 28mm f/2.8 without checking the engraving on the front, so it is probably not a good idea to carry both with you. Of course, the angles of view are not quite different enough to warrant that anyway. Since it doesn't focus as close as the 28mm f/2.8 it is not of much interest to me, but it takes nice photographs.
